Curriculum

The course of the doctoral program

Graduate students colloquiums

The graduate students take part in a colloquium for doctoral candidates in their department every semester and report on their thesis at least once a year. Here they receive feedback from the participating faculty members and graduate students.

Graduate student meetings

The goal of the graduate student meetings is to further the interdisciplinary networking of young scientists and to give them a platform where they can present their dissertation projects to colleagues and other interested scientists and students. Here the candidates give short presentations on aspects of their theses, discuss problems or put up parts of their projects for discussion.

Workshops

The graduate students are given support to independently plan workshops, invite experts and make contributions. These workshops can, for example, serve to impart practical skills which are closely related to their thesis. At the workshops, the participating faculty and guest speakers give insights into their specialized fields.

Colloquiums

Every two years the graduate students organize an international colloquium together. The colloquiums not only give the students the opportunity to get to know renown exerts in their field, but to train their organizational skills and to participate with posters or lectures. In particular, the doctoral students should get to know the whole process of arranging a larger meeting.
