Degree

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the program, the degrees of Dr. rer. nat., Dr. phil. or Dr. med. vet. can be acquired. In order to graduate in the doctoral program, the primary advisor has to be a member of the ArchaeoBioCenter. The second (and third) supervisors, however, do not have to be members of the ArchaeoBioCenter.

The degree depends on the thematic classification of the thesis, i.e. the subject of the primary supervisor. Doctoral candidates in fields of the departments 16, 19 and 20 finish with the degree Dr. rer. nat., candidates in the field of department 12 finish with the degree Dr. phil., and candidates in the field of department 8 finish with the degree Dr .med. vet.

The respective doctorate regulations apply for the different fields.
